THE YORKSHIRE THREE PEAKS

ON OUR DOORSTEP

The Three Peaks of Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough can be seen far and wide in the southern Yorkshire Dales and you can see at least two of them from Hollow Gill Huts. They provide a popular and challenging walk individually or collectively too, so why not book a stay with us and take them on before coming back and resting in complete luxury?

1887 R. Wynne-Edwards and D. R. Smith did the first recorded ascent of the three hills in 1887. It took them 10 hours. Covering between 23.3 miles and 26.1 miles depending on the chosen route. All Three Peaks as a route total nearly 5,249 ft including ascent and descent. Many walkers taking the challenge aim for under 12 hours to complete the walk.

Many people start the route in the village of Horton-in-Ribblesdale, others from various points in the circular route, like Chapel-le-Dale the historic starting point of the walk.

Friends of the Three Peaks is a voluntary project run by The Yorkshire Dales National Park. The income from which help with the upkeep of the paths on the route. Local participating businesses can award Certificates, medals and membership forms.

Choose to stay with us at Hollow Gill Huts and book one of three huts available so you can come and explore the Three Peaks during your stay.
